Cayman Islands Submarines
Cayman Islands Submarines (30 South Church St., Grand Cayman) –– The Cayman Islands are one of the top scuba diving destinations in world, and with Atlantis Submarines, you don’t have to be a scuba diver to experience the underwater world. The 48 passenger Atlantis Submarine offers a unique but relative option for anyone seeking things to do in the Cayman Islands. The Seaworld Observatory is a 40 passenger Semi-Submarine, designed and built specifically for Atlantis Inc. for viewing of the shallower reefs. One object that its passengers will encounter is a shipwreck called “the Cali”, a steel schooner built in 1900 (which ran aground 100 yards off the coast of Grand Cayman in 1944), as well as another shipwreck, the “Balboa” — a 375-foot freighter that sunk in a hurricane in 1932. Much of her cargo of wood was used to reconstruct the buildings in George Town that were damaged by the same hurricane.
