Cemetery Beach

Cemetery Beach (West Bay, Grand Cayman) — This more relaxed, low key part of Seven Mile beach is situated at the North end of the famous beach. To get there, one must walk the 4 or so miles up the beach from the main hotels, or via bus/car along West Bay Road, until you reach the West Bay cemetery. This beach is favored for its fantastic snorkeling and peaceful ambiance. The reef is close to the shore and spans the full stretch of the beach, making snorkeling plentiful and accessible. The beach is narrower than most and backed by grape trees that give shade for those hot afternoons.
For those snorkeling, you can leisurely go from one coral knob to the next. Duck dive down and keep your eyes peeled for moray eels, lionfish and lobsters–they are all there and sighted regularly. June – September is turtle nesting season, and it’s not hard to find one of the huge 300 lb. turtles in the shallower waters looking for a mate.
